Start Girls Hockey (LTP/6U/8U)
Learn to play hockey with the girls!
Learn to Play is run by our highly experienced LTP staff and introduces girls to the sport of ice hockey in a fun, non-competitive program. No skating instruction is necessary to participate in Learn to Play.
Our certified, on-ice coaches help kids learn the basics of hockey, including skating, stick handling, passing, and shooting skills.
As players progress through the Learn to Play program, they are moved to teams appropriate to their skill level.
Ages
Lady Liberty LTP is open to girls of all ages, but participants typically range in age from 3 to 12 years old.
Player Equipment
Full gear is required for LTP. Equipment may be purchased locally from Pure Hockey or Play It Again Sports. Affton Hockey also offers an equipment free rental program ($150 deposit required).
sessions
Lady Liberty LTP has sessions starting throughout the year. With sessions starting in the fall/winter, spring, and summer, there's sure to be one that works for your schedule.
Lady Liberty Mite ADM Hockey
Lady Liberty's ADM program offers on-ice training sessions under the direction of ADM-certified Lady Liberty coaches.
Lady Liberty ADM is open to girls from all organizations/zip codes and is geared toward all skill levels of ADM (6U & 8U) players, including girls advancing from Learn to Play.
Lady Liberty 6U ADM
Lady Liberty’s 6U Mite ADM program closely follows the guidelines set forth by USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM). Our objectives include nurturing a love of the game at an early age and emphasizing fundamentals including skating, stick handling, passing, and shooting. Station-based practices are utilized to maximize learning and to capture the attention of our young girls. Games are played either cross-ice or half-ice against other local organizations.

Ages & skill levels
6U ADM is for girls 6 years old and younger who played at least one session of Learn to Play or are current ADM players.
8U ADM is for girls 7-8 years old who played at least one session of Learn to Play or are current ADM players.
What's included
The ADM program season consists of:
- 24 Practice ice touches
- 15 Cross-ice game touches
- 10 Half-ice game touches
- 2 Half-ice Tournaments
- 1 Cross-ice jamboree
- 1 reversible jersey & one pair of socks
Summer LTP Session
Summer Lady Liberty Learn to Play starts on July 12, 2026 and ends on August 30, 2026 with skates on Sundays at Fenton and Affton.
Equipment fittings for the summer session will take place Wednesday, July 10 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm (last names A-K) and 6:30 to 7:30 pm (last names L-Z) at Affton Ice Rink.

Affton Hockey Raffle Tickets
Each Affton Hockey player at the ADM level and above (excluding Eagles CSDHL and Affton Americans Midget CSDHL) receives 10 raffle tickets worth $10 each. Families may sell these tickets to recoup part of their registration fee or enter their own name in the raffle. Players receive the tickets from their team manager after team rosters are finalized.
Tickets must be filled out and placed in the bin at the Affton Ice Rink by the return date printed on the tickets to be entered in the raffle. Drawings are held weekly for 20 weeks for prizes of $100 (13 winners), $500 (six winners) and $1,000 (one winner).
